Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL)

This USCCA course is designed for Maryland residents who want to purchase a handgun. Upon successful completion of the USCCA Basic Handgun course, which meets or exceeds the State of Maryland requirements, students are certified to apply for the State of Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL), which is required to purchase a firearm in the state of Maryland.
The Basic Handgun Course objectives are:
Self-Defense Firearms Basics
Universal safety rules
Clearing firearms
Selecting Handguns (Pros & Cons)
Ammunition
Clearing malfunctions
Other use of force options
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals
Defensive shooting vs marksmanship
Shooting platform
Sighted & non-sighted fire
Trigger control
Practical application is conducted using a semi-automatic handgun, and a Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger (S.I.R.T) training pistol. All live-fire drills and range qualifications are, first, conducted on a virtual range using the S.I.R.T training pistol, prior to the live-fire. A Ruger Mark IV, .22 caliber pistol is used for the live-fire portion of the course.
Classroom time 3 Hours and Range time 1 hour - Total 4 Hours
Pistol, ammunition, hearing and eye protection, and targets are provided for this class.
